NaNoWriMo

National Novel Writing Month is all about writing a full novel in a month. "Bob" is my project. Who knows how far it'll go, but I feel like I'm living a life long dream of writing for a living. Read his story and enjoy my writing journey!

NaNoWriMo

It seems silly to start typing all of this now when I have already been writing for 6 days already, but I figure that I might as well if I am going to get the feedback that I want.

This month I have decided to participate in National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo if you have heard me dorking out on it.

I have always been a writer. Could never put the pen or pencil down. I have written several picture books and now am working on my fourth novel.

Am I published? Well, no. But by the end of this month I hope to have achieved something that is worthy of being accepted by an actual publishing company! If not, well then, I'll just self-publish, self-promote, and sell the crap out of my book from Amazon. It's pretty amazing how things work like that.

The book that I am writing is about two girls: Lily and Kat. Their worlds are completely different and as what can happen with girls some times, they start off their relationship hating each other. It's not until, of all things, a daddy long legs comes into their classroom, that the girls are actually forced together and find that they have far more in common than they thought before.

This story is loosely based off of my own classroom and actually started as a picture book last year. I spent the summer, after the wedding, planning and prepping EVERYTHING for this book. I have put over 30 hours into this book already, and I'm only on Chp 9.

I'm quickly learning exactly why it is that professional writers say that you have to set aside time everyday to write. Otherwise, it won't happen. Writing has become sacred to me in the last week. And the things of this world just don't mean as much when I realize that I am achieving my life long dream of becoming a published writer.

Every few days I'll post the next chapters in the saga of "Bob." Now keep in mind that it is still in draft mode and can change quickly. But if you see something that you like, let me know.

Remember, I'm writing for children. Not for a Nobel Prize here.

Enjoy
